
Jakes joined Ads Security Services in 2008. He is from South Africa where he was the GM of one of the largest private security companies in Mpumalanga, South Africa.
Background
Jakes joined the South African Police Force in 1985, and was soon accepted as a member of a specialist, National Riot Control Unit. He was deployed in Soweto during the “unrest” years, before passing the dog handlers course and joining the Dog Unit in Pretoria. He later joined the elite, Pretoria Clandestine Unit before being picked as one of only 10 police officers in 1994 to form the NAC Unit that formed part of the Organized Crime Unit. He specialized in investigating organized crime syndicates where members of the Police were involved. He left the South African Police Force in 1999 as a Detective Inspector.Jakes was offered a position as the security manager for a large retail outlet in South Africa and was then offered the position as GM at Hi-Tech Security. Under his management, Hi-Tech security won numerous awards including the Golden Arrow award as best security company (awarded by local government) and Best Security Company – Lowveld Media award (voted for by the public). Jakes is well known in South Africa as a security specialist where he hosted a weekly talk show on a local radio station. He wrote numerous articles for the media relating to crime and security, and was responsible for developing individual contingency plans for organizations (including government departments), businesses, schools and individual clients.
He formed an integral part in establishing and managing the CPF (Community Policing Forum), the POLSEC (Police and Security Forum) and Sector Policing Forums in South Africa.

Hobbies/Interests
Jakes is a sport fanatic and played rugby union and cricket for the South African Police Service. Nowadays he only has time for the odd game of golf.
